My accent isn't as noticeable as it used to be, apparently. When I was away, some of my classmates mistook me for a monoglot or, worse, an American.

I don't know. I do sometimes wonder if I should try visiting Germany more. I still have my accent, maybe because I learned English later than you? But I feel like a tourist there.
