only semi-related but I was reading the first appearance of Havok and obviously it was a comics retcon but it's so unhinged that they made it canon that Scott just never told any of his friends FOR YEARS that he had a younger brother. The ANXM plot where they travel thru time doubled down on this by having teen Bobby be like "did anyone here even know Scott had a brother" and teen Scott is just like "why did you need to know 😐"

Scott's the sort of uptight/socially awkward that Manuel can't help but want to mess with or try nudge out of his comfort zone. It's all in good fun, honest. That said, he'll ultimately follow Emma's lead when it comes to Scott most of the time. Are we dragging him somewhere to broaden his horizons? Are we making nice because of Emma's crush? Are we teasing him about Madelyne? Whatever, he's down.
Despite their (many) differences, they're both control freaks because of the lack of control they have over their powers and they're both driven by a need to prove their value, so I think he feels some sort of reluctant kinship with Scott. :| But he doesn't know what to do with that.
i think Scott was very wary of Manuel in the beginning, because having emotion manipulation is terrifying to someone who keeps himself so locked down, and it probably took some time before Scott was able to look past the teasing and charming front to understand that they have similar struggles :(

Hey, Scott? Valid. Manuel is accustomed to people being put off by his powers, so this wasn't anything new for him and it certainly didn't keep him out of Scott's orbit. And maybe they'll have occasion to commiserate about their shared difficulties at some point~

i've said this to u already but yes, hello to scoot, her best friend in the wide world. (Ok actually I think secretly values his dedication to work because it keeps her sharp and active but would never validate those obsessive tendencies by mentioning this with her mouth)
Scott was the one most likely to admonish Kitty when she was rebellious or breaking rules, so I'm sure they butted heads in their youth and might still from time to time. but they're the same age and Scott appreciates Kitty trying to be friends with him after Jean left the school, and he admires that she's so opinionated and welcoming while he's always in the background going 😐
