Hey soooo. Since I'm moving up the timeline for seconds, expect a lil' ramp up in the metaplot timeline as well. I want to give a heads up on this in case it feels rushed or anything, but just know that solving a mystery here will be more of an opening up than a wrapping up for metaplot. ♥ Trust the process! Or something!
Anyway, this'll mean: expect some mark updates this week and a bigger piece of the puzzle that'll play out over the course of the following week (March 24th - March 30th). You'll all get the details at the start of the week so you can ponder/plan/play around accordingly for an event later in the week (probably March 28th or 29th).
After that, there'll probably be a little lull since most of the players will be traveling and I want to be cognizant of that~
ANYWHO. An update for you. I wanted to drop it here as an FYI since I'm still pinning down things and trying to figure out how I want to get this on the calendar in a spoiler-free way.

an annoying ask: would anyone be willing to run me through (v fast, not in super detail) the basics of what i missed? i had to clock out of a bunch of stuff so i didn't wallow in FOMO for the past three weeks. 🙇
......I was a fool to think I could be brief. But also a lot happened. ♥ I hope this helps. :')))
February 16th: Scott informed everyone about a 'romance-related student emergency' that involved Jessica Aquino using her adhesive powers to stick her boyfriend to the mansion.
February 21st-25th: Everyone at the Institute suddenly lost their powers and spent several days dealing with that and investigating the problem. The cause of the issue was a young supergenius mutant that was trying to help out a friend. Whoops? Kitty formed a bond with said supergenius, Buster McKeever. Buster and his friend Opal are now attending the school.
On the last day with no powers, Emma and Scott shared an awkward kiss and Scott ran away.
February 28th-March 2nd: After (sort of) sorting things out with Emma, Scott left the institute for the weekend to get his head on straight. He sent amazing texts while away.
Also February 28th: There's a brief attack on the school by Thomas Cassidy, a plant-manipulator, and several X-Men become caught up in a maze of plants and trees. Manuel bonds with a student (shocking), Emma rescues Kitty (cute), and they all collectively decide to lie to Scott about it. He'll never take a weekend to himself again otherwise...
March 7th-March 9th: The team visited Genosha to talk to Erik about Charles and see if he had any insights. While there, Erik tried to invite Kurt to move the team to Genosha, Kitty and Scott explored the sewers, Manuel had a panic attack because of his past experiences in Genosha (despite Emma removing them from his conscious memory), and the team fought some leftover Magistrates armed with new weapons from an unknown patron.
Kitty and Scott found a sad cat in the sewer and ended up bringing him home. His name is Oscar Philip Flushing.
The team also brought home Illyana Rasputin, one of Magneto's Acolytes. This exchange was made so that Jean Grey could remain on Genosha to get help from Erik re:figuring out what happened to limit her powers.
March 12th: Kurt's foster mother, the sorceress Margali, came calling. She'd been looking into their marks and had some information to share. But only after Kurt promised to stop contacting his foster sister (rude!) and Scott agreed to take on a magical bond that would share everything they learned about the marks with her (rude!!).
She went on to tell them that the substance their marks are made of comes from the Otherworld, an intersection between all realities. According to her, their reality has been cut off from this place for centuries, much to the chagrin of magic-users like her. But this indicates that whoever 'branded' them (as Margali put it) has connections to the Otherworld.
Shortly after this, Kurt's mark changed and Illyana got a mark of her own. Welcome to the team!
Margali's visit also left them with some magical flowers on their lawn, which promptly withered and were consumed by strange magical worms a few days later. Ugh! Manuel disposed of (most of) the ones in his office and Scott took on the task of blasting all the others on the school grounds.
March 13th: Now marked, Illyana joined the investigation and cut Manuel's mark with her Soulsword. This cut the mark temporarily, but it soon reformed. The attack reverberated through all the marks and threw both of them back dramatically. Whoops?
March 14th: Emma decided that it's time to use Cerebro. This shit is getting too weird and she'll take the risk for more information, thanks! She was assisted by Kitty (who was monitoring Cerebro) and Manuel (who was monitoring her). She was able to get a glimpse of Charles, but was noticed and promptly overwhelmed by another presence. That presence, though, was anchored to something physical and she thinks she'll be able to find it again...after she recovers.
