hiiiiii ♥
OK Actual response: I imagine Emma and Jean have an interesting relationship asdpignasidg Emma has peeked into her mind a million times (if you're ok with this) and has seen a lot of what Jean has seen re: other realities, which is weird and she's not super fond of it. But she keeps doing it (again, if you're ok with it lmfao). Is very jealous of her telekinesis. Ends up with a crush on Scott which further complicates their relationship. All of this creates a strange sort of competitiveness with Jean in Emma's mind, but she tries to push that aside because she knows it's silly.
That being said, there's no way Emma isn't very attached to and protective of Jean.

Hello! We haven't talked! And we should because I'm v curious about how these two interact. :o Fundamentally, they're about as different as people can be when it comes to like...moral core, since Jean is all about empathy and helping other mutants and Manuel struggles to genuinely connect with people, mutant or otherwise. (Most of the exceptions to that rule are folks he knows from Xavier's, ofc.) From his end, I do think he's fond of Jean and he probably does view her in that annoying kid sister sort of way you mentioned in her writeup, particularly when/if she tries to get into his business. He respects her overachiever energy (because it's something they share) and her willingness to strike out on her own/do her own thing, but does think her good nature is wasted on most people.
On the multiversal awareness front, Jean probably knows that the vast majority of Manuel de la Rochas out there are....just so much worse than this one. Not all necessarily straight-up villains, but certainly not running with the X-Men anywhere but here. Don't know if that changes her interactions with this one, but hey! An interesting footnote for her! Apparently all that effort Charles put in wasn't a total waste.
For more recent stuff, they were both captured and used on Genosha, which could've led to some new kinship or something...until Manny went and got Emma to remove the experience from his memory. Depending on if they connected at all during that time, that could be something interesting for us to dig into.
Anywho, my initial thoughts! Take or leave any of them and I'm always down to gab.

i feel like jean is probably a huge headache for an empath to be around... she is just constantly banging emotional pots and pans in her head even when she's trying to be like 🙂 outwardly
she tries to keep a lid on telling other people about the way things are in Other Universes when she can but i do think she's probably been like "i am so glad you are here with us" in an overly earnest way a few times that might ping to him given that he would know she can do this lol. she loves all the og team members and is very nosy about their personal business in compensation for not being able to read their minds
i definitely think being kidnapped to Genosha together can be a bonding thing for them... jean is just now coming around to like discussing her experiences about it with other people at all so she's gonna be a little ticked that he got himself mindwiped LMAO she needs someone to commiserate with! but she'll try anyway

Manny isn't unaccustomed to people feeling one way but projecting another and he won't typically call Jean out on it, but he definitely takes notice and they both know that he knows. For better or worse. Also please stop feeling so hard, you're killing him. :))) This impacted him more when they were younger and he wasn't as experienced, so he mostly just expects/accepts this for her now. But still! Jean, get it together...
That's sweet, though. :') And so so ominous from Manny's perspective despite knowing that it's coming from a good place.
SORRY, JEAN. Depending on whether or not he remembers sharing any part of the experience/the aftermath with her, this is probably the one part of letting Emma alter his memory that he feels somewhat conflicted about. He trusts himself enough to think he did what he needed to do, but that doesn't mean he likes that he's left Jean in a bit of a lurch. If he doesn't remember any of that at all, well... Jean, what's your deal rn?? Either way, a fun little mess to play with!

Kurt adores Jean, she has so much fire, keep bullying that middle aged man. Especially in the past she was out there saying the things he wanted to but couldn't because Xavier needed Kurt to be an ideal leader, and Kurt desperately wanted to be liked by the public. He's quietly grateful she's stayed with the X-Men even though she's gotten invitations to join the Brotherhood. He's also close with Erik at this point so he understands the pull, but he's always been Charles' kid.
He's also basically Scott's older brother so this is the girl Scott has a crush on and he's like oof good luck Scott. Thought they were finally dating when those pics of Scott and Madelyne hit the group chat.
Kurt's protective of all the younger team members and babies them a little even though they're all adults now.
