Hey guys! Rin and I were talking about the NYC trip in 2015 and thought it'd be fun to pin down some of what the group was getting up to before (and maybe after) Kurt's abduction by the Morlocks. Based on the spreadsheet, this group would've been Kurt, Evelyn, Manuel, and Emma. (And maybe Bobby depending on what Kas decides!)
Things we discussed so far...:
Going to the museums! New York City is full of museums and that's a legitimate reason to give your mentor/not-dad about why you need to go visit the big city! But then also maybe...
Going to a club! They might be too young for that, but they've got a telepath on their side and they deserve it! And, ideally, the VIP treatment! Lil' dancing, lil' drinking, good times?
Quickly running to a shoe store after they realize they'll need to go into the sewer. :| Nothing personal, Kurt, but Emma's heels would get ruined be a hazard down there!
Would anyone's characters have been for or against these things? Is there anything else that we'd want to establish as having happened, whether events or intrapersonal character stuff? Let's chat!

Absolutely to Charles he was like oh I want to experience all of this amazing American art and culture!!! I'm so looking forward to this amazing cultural experience!!!!!
But..... especially as a teen, was definitely into partying and flirting and getting drunk and having fun and impressing cuties with his accent and appearance..... up until someone threw a bag over his head and hauled him off to the sewers. It's really hard to not teleport into a wall when you can't see. :(

A bad time for everyone 😌
A few questions, just to gather answers in one place; I know a lot of us have addressed this in our timelines 🙇🏻♀️ 1) Who got kidnapped? 2) Who stayed behind to help rebuild?
And additionally, if you didn't see in Manny's timeline, he had a Bad Time. Emma ended up wiping those memories from his mind without telling anyone ahead of time, but immediately after informed everyone of what had been done. The effects of this are:
1) Everyone knows that this has happened pretty immediately after it was done, so they'll know to not really talk to Manny about the specifics of his experience because he has no idea what they were. Manny does remember asking to get them wiped and is aware that that has happened, so that is not a secret. 2) Everyone will probably have opinions on this lmao. I'm curious how they feel about it in general, and how they feel about Emma and Manny's choices. Emma had an argument with Xavier about it and remains completely unrepentant about both the memory wiping and the choice to not tell anyone until after it happened. Manny obviously can only be held accountable so much. Selfishly I'm obviously very curious if this has had an effect on any of Emma's relationships with people or their opinions of her. 🥰

Kurt did not get kidnapped, but instead spearheaded the rescue mission. In the aftermath he's kind of reached out more to Magneto. He wanted to rebuild, but knew Charles and the rest of the team needed him to remain as leader.
As for the Manny situation........ Kurt doesn't like what Emma did, but he also doesn't know what Manny experienced and can no longer ask his unbiased opinion. :) Maybe it was the best decision. Maybe not. It made Kurt think about whether or not he'd take that option if he had to. He's unhappy they did it without exploring any other options, but what's done is done. (The fact that Emma can do this at all is just another stressful thing he's putting aside for now.)

lmaooooo yeah sorry this is freaky knowledge to have about her 🥲. Emma will be grateful that's he's taking the attitude of 'well it's already happened' because obviously the fewer issues she has with people for this, the better.

Kitty also was part of the rescue mission, and I sort of imagine even a fairly integral one due to how good at doors and security systems she is. She stayed to rebuild, and likely made some friends of some Acolytes, but throughout this experience was prooobably the quietest and hardest working that people had seen in a little while. By the time she returned to the Academy she was so normal though so it's fine!!!
Maybe unpopular opinion re: The Manny Situation but she's actually?? Kinda impressed that Emma listened to what her friend needed and did it. Like. Would she have loved to know this ahead of time, and should maybe they have been consulted to see if there was a less invasive and permanent solution? Like. Of course. But there's exactly enough admiration that she wore a skirt Emma bought her once without awful shoes to negate it at some recent point.

Scott was part of the rescue team, and had to fight and subdue a brainwashed Jean. A bad time 😌 Afterwards, Scott chose to stay behind to help rebuild, which was his horribly avoidant way of ghosting everyone so he didn't have to deal with Xavier or Jean or his girlfriend Maddie (now ex) 😌😌
He backed up Xavier when Emma revealed she mind wiped Manny. Scott has arguments ready for why this is unethical, but also on a personal level, it bothers him because he was subject to extensive telepathic manipulation as a child. So there was a period of time where Scott clearly also Did Not Want to deal with Emma too 😌😌😌

At one point in time, I'm going to say Kurt went missing. Not sure of the circumstances, but there was a period of 3-6ish months where Scott stepped up to lead the team.

UPDATE:
late 2021 While fighting [INSERT VILLAIN HERE], Kurt's powers were undermined and while teleporting he got stuck in the Brimstone Dimension (basically hell). To his teammates, he just vanished mid-fight doing his normal teleporting.
Jean and/or Xavier were probably able to track down that he was at least alive, but it took 6+ months to get him back. In the meantime, Scott is the team leader.
2022 Kurt is found and brought back home. When Kurt left, the MRA was only a proposition. When he's finally saved, there's registration and sentinels and everything is awful. He's in a bad mental place and lashes out in interviews, quoting Magneto and causing a scandal.
In late 2016, a series of thefts are committed at high security science facilities, with massive holes blown right through concrete walls and people left dead on scene. Cerebro detects the presence of two mutants at these thefts: one is Jack Winters, aka Jack O'Diamonds, a career criminal, and the other is 15-year-old Scott Summers, an orphan runaway who was picked up by Jack's gang.
The X-Men are deployed to the next scene, where Scott tries to keep them off by blasting the ceiling (dropping rubble into their path) or firing near but not directly at the X-Men. Once they convince Scott to quit attacking**, they learn that he's only trying to stop them because he's scared that Jack will kill them, like he's killed anyone else who's interfered with his crimes. The X-Men reassure him that they can handle this, and go to confront Jack.
Jack is a low-level telepath who can compel people to do what he wants, which is how he's been controlling his gang of thieves (human but armed with guns). Once the X-Men deal with his gang, Jack transforms his body into a super strong, super durable diamond form. He can't compel people in this form, but he's impervious to telepathic assault. The X-Men defeat Jack** with the help of Scott. Professor Xavier offers him a spot with the X-Men, and Scott accepts because he has no one to take care of him anymore 😌
**however your character would handle this situation... open to ideas!

From my end, Manuel's instinct would be to turn the gang of armed thieves against each other. Get them all riled up and fighting among themselves so the team can focus on Jack. Who he can't do shit against anyway. 😌 You guys have got this, right?
With regard to Scott himself, Manuel would've immediately clocked Scott's emotions and intentions. So he could've pushed for the team to try talking to him instead. Also on hand to do some subtle emotional pushing to getting him calmer and more willing to listen to a bunch of strangers, but would've backed off on that front if given the look from Emma or Kurt.

omg I thought I had commented on this but APPARENTLY not. Emma would focus on Jack while he wasn't in diamond form in an attempt to out-telepath him, after which, much like Manny, she's not SUPER helpful. It's fine. Poor Scott :( she would try to be reassuring (and would of course immediately be poking around in his brain, sorry)

ALRIGHT SO, one of the earliest missions where Kurt was the leader.
During the situation where Scott was trying to stop them, Kurt was teleporting himself and teammates around to keep them safe and get them closer to Scott. (Their first game of cat chasing a laser pointer.) He was definitely trying to stop any harm coming to this kid, especially with Manny and Emma giving him info that Scott was not a malicious threat.
Maybe (not necessary) he teleported Scott himself to safety when something was collapsing above him by accident??? Which could have built more trust with these strangers.
Dealing with mediocre diamond man, Kurt probably tried to teleport him vertically to drop him which is one of the hardest teleport moves he can do. Managed a 30ish foot drop, this will get better as he grows up.
Once Scott was brought to the mansion Kurt was constantly hovering over him, giving him a tour, asking too many questions (but not enough about how Scott's powers work, which will be a regret later with the sleep issue thing).
